- A Mayor should be a very active citizen of his community. I have been! - I am not a politician... I am a concerned citizen who loves and cares about this community. - I will not run for Congress as Lionel Rivera did. Being your Mayor is more important to me.
- A Mayor works for the people of his community and must never forget that fact. - Listen to those people and act on their requests. - My "SpringsMayor.com" website will allow citizens to communicate directly with me, not my staff.
- Ensure community citizens are involved with your decision making. - Your decision should reflect their desires. - I will ensure ALL citizen's desires are taken into account when I vote on Council matters.
- Expansion does not necessarily equate to growth. - A community should grow for the good. - I will not allow the "build and run" tactics seen so often. - A developer/builder must ensure proper infrastructure is provided before moving on.
- I will work with the supporters of the downtown area to help make our downtown what it once was. - In 1871 our Founder, William J. Palmer had a clear vision for our downtown. - In 2007 I have a similar vision. I would like to see downtown become the heart of the city, again.
- Community "First Responders" (Police, Fire, etc.) should be rewarded as the life savers they are. - Without them a community could not survive. - We must ensure the proper number of required first responders are employed so our city is properly supported.
- Clear, current, and concise communication with community citizens is a must. - Modern technology provides avenues for real-time communication. - A beefed up city government news sharing format is needed so our citizens are better informed.
- Citywide traffic-light timing is in need of re-design. - Snow plow routes and priority plowing schedules are in need of re-design. - Traffic congestion due to road construction areas is too wide-spread. Better planning is needed. - Road surface conditions are terrible for a city of our size. This must change!
- More housing development specific parks and pet friendly parks are needed in Colorado Springs. - Future development plans should include provisions for such parks prior to approval. - We need to ensure all our current and future parks and open spaces are maintained. - Parks and open spaces help keep our citizens happy and healthy.
